Cavs place Williams on IL 04.2.2004

Williams, who is averaging 10 points and four rebounds in 71 games this season with Boston and Cleveland, played just five minutes before suffering the injury in a 126-109 loss Tuesday at Dallas.
The loss could prove costly for Cleveland, which is in the midst of a playoff push but currently sits 1 1/2 games behind the Boston Celtics for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Cavaliers have just eight games remaining.
Swingman Jason Kapono was activated from the injured list to take Williams’ roster spot. Kapono has missed the past seven games with right knee tendinitis.
