Mavs trade Fortson to Seattle

07.26.2004

New York, NY (Basketball News) - The Dallas Mavericks traded forward Danny Fortson to the Seattle SuperSonics in exchange for center Calvin Booth.

In only one season with Dallas, Fortson averaged just 3.9 points and 4.5 rebounds in 56 games with the Mavericks. The 28-year old will be joining his fifth team in eight NBA seasons, having previously played with Denver, Boston and Golden State. Fortson’s best year came with the Warriors in 2001-02, when he averaged 11.2 points and 11.7 boards.

Booth, a five-year veteran, played in 71 games last year with Seattle, averaging 4.9 points and 3.9 rebounds.

The trade marks a return to Dallas for Booth. The Reynoldsburg, Ohio native played in 15 games for the Mavericks during the 2001 campaign, when he averaged 7.5 points per games. He also played in all 10 Mavericks playoff games that season.
