New York, NY (Basketball News) - Philadelphia guard Allen Iverson and Phoenix point man Steve Nash were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, December 20 through Sunday, December 26.

Iverson posted league-high averages of 45.5 points and four steals while dishing out 5.5 assists per game as he led the Sixers to a 1-1 record for the week.

Against the Jazz on December 20, the 6-0 guard recorded his second 50-point game of the season as he poured in 51 in a 103-101 loss.

Two days later, Iverson lit up the Pacers for 40 points helping the Sixers to a 102-90 victory.

Nash led the Suns to a perfect 3-0 record last week as he averaged 16.7 ppg and dished out a league high 12.3 assists per game in wins over Denver, Memphis, and Toronto.

The Canadian born point guard started the week with 15 points and 10 assists against the Denver Nuggets on December 20.

In a 109-102 win over Memphis three days later, Nash tallied 17 points and 14 assists. He capped the week by setting an NBA Record for most consecutive winning games with double figure in assists at 11. Against Toronto, Nash dished out 13 more helpers eclipsing Magic Johnson’s record of 10 set back in the 1986-87 season.

Other nominees for Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Charlotte’s Emeka Okafor, Cleveland’s LeBron James and Golden State’s Jason Richardson, Miami’s Dwayne Wade, New Jersey’s Richard Jefferson, Phoenix’s Amare Stoudemire, Portland’s Zach Randolph, and Utah’s Carlos Boozer.
