Chicago, IL (Basketball News) - Paul McMillan scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds while leading the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers to a 70-59 victory over the Cleveland State Vikings in a Horizon League tilt.
Demetrius Williams tallied 14 points and collected eight boards for Loyola- Chicago (8-19, 4-12 HL), which snapped a six-game losing streak. DaJuan Gouard and Terrance Whiters both contributed with 10 points in the victory.
Victor Morris netted 16 points for Cleveland State (4-23, 0-15), which extended the nation’s longest losing streak to 21 games. Jermaine Robinson added 14 points, while Omari Westley chipped in 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. However, Westley also committed 10 of the team’s 17 turnovers in the losing effort.
The Vikings shot 57.1 percent from the floor in the opening frame, helping it take a slim 39-37 advantage into the break.
The Ramblers used an 11-5 spurt late in the second stanza en route to the 11- point victory.
Cleveland State made only 3-of-14 three-point attempts and just 8-of-19 shots taken from the foul line, while also losing the battle on the boards, 38-34.
