Portland, OR (Basketball News) - Marcus Lewis netted 11 points and ripped down a game-high nine rebounds to lead the University of Portland Pilots to a 67-35 victory over the Idaho State Bengals in a non-conference matchup from the Chiles Center.
Lewis shot 5-of-8 from the field on the game and grabbed six of his nine boards off the defensive glass for the Pilots (11-4) in the win. Darren Cooper led all scorers with 12 points, despite shooting just 3-of-11 from the floor. Donald Wilson also got into the mix with 10 points and three steals.
Doug D’Amore scored a team-high eight points for Idaho State (6-6), who shot a dreadful 22.9 percent from the field as a team.
Portland connected on 48.0 percent of its total shots in the first half, taking a 38-17 lead into the break.
In the second half, the Pilots held the Bengals to a dismal 18.5 percent shooting effort from the floor, as they cruised to the 32-point win.
The Pilots outscored the Bengals in the paint, 32-8, and scored 22 points off 23 Idaho State turnovers.
