DeShawn Stevenson scored the first bucket of the game to give the Magic their only lead of the contest at 2-0. After that, the Pacers scored the next 14 points to begin to take control and the club went into the second with a 23-13 cushion.
Indiana increased its lead to 36-20 on a Sarunas Jasikevicius basket 5 1/2 minutes into the second, but the Magic made it interesting by scoring 17 of the final 22 points of the half to go into the break down just 41-37.
Orlando continued to cut into the deficit in the early stages of the third, courtesy of a Stacey Augmon basket that made it a 45-43 game just over two minutes into the half.
Indiana, however, had an answer. Ahead 50-47, the Pacers went on an 11-0 run — capped by a Scot Pollard field goal with 4 1/2 minutes left — for a 61-47 cushion, and the club carried a 72-58 advantage to the fourth.
In the final quarter, Orlando got within 87-83 thanks to an Arroyo bucket with under two minutes to go.
