NBA Game Summary - San Antonio at Sacramento

05.6.2006

Sacramento, CA (Basketball News) - Tony Parker poured in a playoff career-high 31 points, as San Antonio moved into the second round of the postseason with a 105-83 victory over Sacramento in Game 6 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series.

Bruce Bowen tallied 16 points and Tim Duncan ended with 15 points for the top- seeded Spurs, who advanced to play No. 4 seed Dallas in the conference semifinals, starting Sunday in San Antonio.

Six San Antonio players scored in double figures, as Brent Barry hit for 12, while Michael Finley and Manu Ginobili each added 10 for the defending NBA champions. The Spurs advanced to the second round for a sixth straight year.

Mike Bibby scored 19 points and Bonzi Wells finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Kings. Ron Artest sprained his ankle late in the first half and had 11 points.

The Mavericks, who swept Memphis in the first round, split four regular season meetings with the Spurs. San Antonio has faced Dallas twice in the postseason, winning both series, in the conference finals in 2003 and the semifinals in 2001.

The Spurs used a 19-1 run, bridging the end of the first half into the third quarter, to take command. A free throw by Kenny Thomas had the Kings within 40-38 with 49 seconds left in the half, but the Spurs scored the final five points of the second quarter.

Ginobili started the third with a three-pointer and after Artest made a free throw for a 48-39 contest, San Antonio rattled off 11 consecutive points. Sacramento’s Brad Miller was called for a flagrant foul during the stretch and Ginobili’s driving layup capped the spurt for a 59-39 contest with 7:31 remaining in the stanza.

Parker drilled a three-pointer at the end of the third quarter for a 78-62 margin and the Spurs were on cruise control in the final period.

Kevin Martin had 11 points for the Kings...Artest was 2-of-11 from the field...The Spurs outshot the Kings, 50.6 percent to 41.2 percent.
