Boston continues road trip at Toyota Center

12.6.2005

(Basketball News) - The Boston Celtics continue their five-game road trip tonight when they visit the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center.

This is the second and final meeting of the season between the clubs. On November 13th, Raef LaFrentz tied his career high with 32 points, including 7- of-9 from three-point range, as the Celtics defeated the Houston Rockets, 102-82, at the TD Banknorth Garden.

Boston has won two straight in this series, while Houston has won seven of the last 10 meetings. The Celtics have won two straight after losing their last six at Houston.

The Celtics won the opener of their current swing. On Sunday, Paul Pierce scored 28 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Boston held on to knock off the New York Knicks, 102-99, at Madison Square Garden.

Ricky Davis added 27 points with five rebounds and four assists in the win over New York for the Celtics, who won on the road for the first time this year. Delonte West chipped in 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor.

Boston is 6-5 as the host this season. The Celtics will visit the Hornets on Wednesday, San Antonio on Friday and Dallas on Saturday in the finale of the current trip.

Houston plays the finale of a four-game homestand. The Rockets are 1-2 on their current stand.

On Saturday, Damon Stoudamire scored 24 points and Bobby Jackson added a season-high 18 off the bench, as the Memphis Grizzlies jumped out to a large early lead and beat the Rockets, 90-75, at the Toyota Center.

Yao Ming led all scorers with 29 points in the loss to Memphis for Rockets, but didn’t receive much help from fellow All-Star Tracy McGrady, who scored just 12 points on 5-of-15 shooting from the floor.

The Rockets are 2-6 as the host this season. After tonight’s game, they will embark on a six-game road trip. Houston, which is also 2-6 as the visitor, will visit Sacramento, Portland, Golden State, Seattle, the Clippers and the Lakers.
