Celtics swap LaFrentz and No. 7 pick for Telfair 06.28.2006

The Celtics got Telfair, forward Theo Ratliff and a 2008 second round pick from the Portland Trailblazers for forward Raef LaFrentz, guard Dan Dickau, and the draft rights to the seventh pick in tonight’s NBA Draft, Randy Foye.
Telfair, a New York high school legend, was the 13th choice in the 2004 Draft but has been a disappointment in Portland.
In two seasons with the Blazers, the guard has averaged 8.1 points and 3.5 assists per game. Last season he started 30 of the 68 games he played and averaged 9.5 points per game and 3.6 assists per game.
LaFrentz and Ratliff are both big money players that are expected to improve with changes of scenery.
The Blazers then sent Foye and cash considerations to Minnesota for the draft rights to Washington guard Brandon Roy.
