(Basketball News) - Dallas blew a 20-point lead Saturday, as the Denver Nuggets defeated the Mavericks, 107-102, at American Airlines Center.
Michael Finley scored 37 points while Antoine Walker and Dirk Nowitzki each added 16 for Dallas, which has dropped two straight after winning nine in a row. The home setback was just the fourth for the Mavericks this season (20-4). Steve Nash scored 14 points in defeat.
Carmelo Anthony’s basket completed a comeback that stretched from the third quarter, giving Denver the lead at 93-92 with under two minutes to play. Consecutive baskets by Rodney White stretched the Denver advantage to 97-92 with 1:16 left.
Nash’s basket brought the Mavericks to within a three-pointer at 97-94, but that was as close as Dallas would get. Nowitzki missed a game-tying three- pointer on the Mavericks’ following possession. The missed shot resulted in Dallas fouling the rest of the way.
Andre Miller and Anthony drained free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
Dallas is off until Tuesday when it hosts the Golden State Warriors.
