(Basketball News) - Kobe Bryant scored a game-high 27 points and Shaquille O’Neal added 14 to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 99-77 victory over Miami on Sunday at Staples Center.
Bryant was 6-of-10 from the field and 15-of-16 from the free throw line.
Karl Malone contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Lakers, who have won three in a row. Gary Payton added 13 points and eight assists in the win.
The Lakers increased a 17-point halftime lead to 26 with an eight-point surge in the third quarter. Leading 59-41, Devean George buried a jumper to start the run and O’Neal muscled inside for a basket to give Los Angeles a 67-41 cushion with just over five minutes to play in the quarter.
Los Angeles took a 76-58 lead in the fourth quarter and cruised to the easy 22-point win
LA coach Phil Jackson won his 784th game, tying Gene Shue for 11th-place on the all-time list.
The Lakers finished 0-for-9 from beyond the arc, while shooting 33-of-46 from the free throw line,
The Lakers are off until Tuesday when they travel to Detroit to meet Ben Wallace and the Pistons.
