Magic will try to make a win appear in Utah

11.17.2003

Salt Lake City, UT (Basketball News) - The Orlando Magic will try to avoid a 10th straight loss tonight when they land in Utah to take on the Jazz at the Delta Center.

The Magic have dropped nine in a row since opening the season with a victory over the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on October 29. It is Orlando’s longest losing streak since a franchise-record 17-game skid from December 4, 1991-January 7, 1992.

Orlando’s woes continued on Saturday against the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center. The Magic dropped a 95-92 decision to the Clippers.

Juwan Howard scored 22 points to lead the Magic, while Tracy McGrady scored 19 points, one night after dropping 51 against Denver.

Tyronn Lue had 18 and Keith Bogans added 12 points and 12 rebounds in the loss. Drew Gooden had 11 boards.

Orlando forward Pat Garrity will need a third surgery on his knee and might not return this season.

The Magic are 1-3 as the visitor this season.

Utah starts a six-game homestand tonight.

The Jazz closed out a four-game road trip with a 100-95 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night. Utah dropped three of four on the swing.

Carlos Arroyo led Utah with 21 points. Andrei Kirilenko had 12 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, while Matt Harpring added 19 points for the Jazz.

The Jazz ended 16-for-23 from the charity stripe against Milwaukee. Utah fell to 1-5 on the road this season.

Utah is a perfect 4-0 at the Delta Center this season.

In 2002-03, the teams split two games as both clubs won as the visitor.

Overall, the Jazz have won five of seven and 10 of the last 13 meetings between the two squads.
