Malone was fined for lowering his shoulder into Minnesota Timberwolves guard Darrick Martin, knocking the reserve to the floor with 2:31 remaining. Malone, who had five points and nine rebounds, was ejected for the flagrant foul.

The Lakers lost the game, 98-71, as the Timberwolves evened the best-of-seven set at a game apiece.
