(Basketball News) - Sam Cassell poured in a game-high 24 points and Fred Hoiberg scored all 10 of his points in a decisive fourth quarter, as the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Utah Jazz 77-66 at the Delta Center.
Kevin Garnett added 17 points and 12 rebounds for Minnesota, which has won two straight contests and will head to the All-Star break atop the Midwest Division. Latrell Sprewell contributed 13 points in the triumph.
The Timberwolves, who posted the lowest total in a winning effort since a 73-56 victory over Toronto on November 1. are 22 games over .500 for the first time in franchise history.
Garnett, who will start for the Western Conference in Sunday’s All-Star Game, has been sensational all season and has posted five 30-point performances in seven games this month.
The Timberwolves, who will head into the break atop the Midwest Division, have won six of their last nine games on the road and are 18-9 away from home this season.
