(Basketball News) - Kevin Garnett registered 20 points, 17 rebounds and nine assists to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves past the Houston Rockets, 96-91, on Thursday at the Toyota Center.
Sam Cassell contributed 18 points for Minnesota, which bounced back from a one-point loss to the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday. Wally Szczerbiak chipped in 13 points in the victory.
The Timberwolves captured the battle on the glass, 41-33. Latrell Sprewell was held to just nine points in 35 minutes for Minnesota, which shot 46 percent from the floor compared to 44 percent for the Rockets.
Garnett has averaged 24.8 points, 15.4 rebounds and seven assists in Minnesota’s first five games of the season.
The Timberwolves are off until Tuesday when they host Shaquille O’Neal and the Miami Heat. Last season, Minnesota swept the two contests with the Heat.
