Adbur-Rahim’s late three helps Kings silence Jazz 12.15.2006
|
The Kings, trailing by 95-83 with 4:01 remaining, went on a 10-0 scamper that was finished up by Mike Bibby’s driving layup and free throw to make it a 95-93 contest with 1:58 on the clock. Carlos Boozer followed up with a jumper for the Jazz, but Bibby responded with one of his own to keep it a two-point game.
Utah’s Derek Fisher then turned the ball over after a bad pass and Ron Artest found Abdur-Rahim for an open shot from beyond the left side of the arc for the go-ahead basket.
With one last chance for the win, Fisher and Deron Williams both missed jump shots in the final seconds as Sacramento spun the come-back upset victory.
Abdur-Rahim finished with 21 points off the bench with eight rebounds while Bibby scored 19 points and also grabbed eight boards. Artest posted 11 points, Kevin Martin had 13 and Brad Miller donated 10 for the Kings, who have won two of three after losing five in a row.
Mehmet Okur scored 17 points and Williams finished with 15 and nine assists for the Jazz, who had a two-game winning streak snapped and lost for only the second time in their last six games.
Carlos Boozer netted 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Andrei Kirilenko added 11 points and 11 boards in the win.
Abdur-Rahim’s two free throws tied the game at 27 for the Kings after one quarter of play, but the Jazz went into halftime with a slim 54-53 edge after Okur drilled a trey.
Utah took charge in the third with an early 12-2 spurt, capped by an Okur jumper at the 8:23 mark. The double-digit lead remained and the Jazz took a 77-66 advantage into the fourth, but were outscored 32-20 in the final frame.
