(Basketball News) - The Atlanta Hawks try for their first winning streak of the season tonight when they travel to the Pyramid to tangle with the Memphis Grizzlies.
On Tuesday, Jacque Vaughn scored a career-high 23 points to lead Atlanta past the upstart Denver Nuggets, 112-98, at Philips Arena.
Shareef Abdur-Rahim pitched in with 22 points and nine rebounds for the Hawks, who snapped a four-game skid. Jason Terry added 20 points and 11 assists for his first double-double of the year, as Atlanta had three players score at least 20 points for the first time this season.
Theo Ratliff chipped in a season-high 12 points, while Nazr Mohammed had 12 points and 10 boards to record his first double-double of the season,
Forward Stephen Jackson was suspended for last night’s win after a heated exchange with the coaching staff in Cleveland last weekend, and is expected to be back in the lineup tonight.
Atlanta, which is 3-9 away from home this season, will be starting a two-game road trip tonight.
The Hawks have won four of its last five and five of its last seven against Memphis, including three of their last four on the Grizzlies’ court.
