Washington, DC (Basketball News) - Jason Richardson poured in 34 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Golden State to an easy 103-90 win over Washington at the MCI Center.
Troy Murphy had 20 points and 14 boards while Derek Fisher netted 16 points for the Warriors, who have won two straight games following a two-game skid.
Larry Hughes scored 27 points for the Wizards, who have lost three of their last four contests. Gilbert Arenas added 23 points and eight assists in the setback.
The Warriors led by two midway through the third quarter, but then reeled off nine straight points to increase the gap to 71-60 with just over four minutes left in the third quarter. Murphy scored six points, while Richardson added the other three during the critical run.
The margin grew to 12 points moments later and Golden State enjoyed a 76-65 edge after 36 minutes.
Richardson’s three-pointer early in the fourth staked the Warriors to a commanding 81-65 lead and Washington never seriously threatened again.
The gap grew as high as 19 points in the waning minutes.
Golden State led 27-19 after one quarter, but the Wizards battled back in the second and went into the locker room trailing by just two at 53-51.
