NBA Game Summary - LA Lakers at Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA (Basketball News) - Allen Iverson scored 36 points with nine assists and three steals to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 108-91 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers at the Wachovia Center.

Andre Iguodala added 15 for the Sixers, who have won two of their last three games and beat the Lakers in Philadelphia for the fifth straight time. Kyle Korver was 4-of-12 from three-point range and had 14 points in the win.

Samuel Dalembert grabbed 11 rebounds for the Sixers, who shot 12-of-30 from three-point range.

Kobe Bryant scored 20 to lead the Lakers, who have lost three of their last five games.

Philadelphia took a commanding 87-62 lead into the final quarter, but LA cut the Sixers’ advantage to 13 with eight minutes remaining. Korver then took over. His three gave Philadelphia a 94-78 advantage and another three by Korver kept the Sixers in control, 97-80, with 5:17 remaining. Korver’s third basket of the quarter from beyond the arc gave Philadelphia a 102-82 lead with 3 1/2 minutes left and the Sixers cruised to the 17-point win.

The Sixers, who led 52-42 at halftime, began to take control in the third quarter. Korver buried a three to give the Sixers a 13-point lead and Iverson was fouled as he banked in a layup high off the glass and dropped in the free throw to extend the Sixers’ lead to 64-50 with 8:26 left in the frame.

LA’s Chucky Atkins was whistled for two technicals after the foul on Iverson and Korver made both free throws to give Philadelphia a 66-50 advantage. Iverson hit a three and then stole the ball for a fastbreak layup to increase the lead to 73-52 with just less than six minutes left in the third.

The lead would grow to 87-59 before the Sixers took a 25-point advantage into the final frame.

Philadelphia, which led by two after one quarter, moved in front 52-41 after a three-pointer by Iverson with 33 seconds left before the break and the Sixers would go to the locker room with a 10-point lead.

Iverson had 19 in the first half for Sixers, who shot 42 percent from the field (19-of-43) and went 10-of-12 from the foul line.

Bryant, who had 16 points in the first quarter, finished with 17 in the opening half. The Lakers shot 36 percent (16-of-45) and were 6-of-7 from the stripe.

Bryant (11) and Lamar Odom (5) did all the scoring early on, as the Lakers built a 16-8 advantage. With LA leading 23-18, the Sixers scored nine of the final 11 points of the first quarter to take a 27-25 lead and would not trail again.

The Lakers have lost five of their last seven road games...Philadelphia has won three of its last four home games...The Sixers ended 26-of-30 from the foul line...LA was 16-of-24 from the stripe...Philadelphia’s Chris Webber had just five points on 2-of-8 shooting from the field.
