Arizona halts slide with rout of Washington 02.3.2007

Chase Budinger contributed 15 points and seven boards for the Wildcats (15-7, 6-5 Pac-10), who ended a two-game slide. Jawann McClellan added 15 points off the bench in the victory.
Senior Ivan Radenovic chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds for Arizona, which shot 57.4 percent from the floor as a team.
Artem Wallace poured in 12 points on 6-of-6 shooting from the field for the Huskies (14-8, 4-7), who were trying to win their fourth straight. Jon Brockman was Washington’s only other player in double figures with 10 points.
Junior guard Ryan Appleby struggled for Washington, finishing with just three points on 1-of-10 shooting from the floor, including 1-for-8 from beyond the arc.
Arizona took control of the contest after rattling off an 11-0 run to take a 37-20 lead with about four minutes to play in the opening half. McClellan contributed five points during the stretch, including a three-pointer off a fast break.
McClellan had 10 points at the break for the Wildcats, who went into halftime with a 45-26 advantage. Budinger had an impressive first half with 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field for Arizona.
As a team, the Wildcats shot a sizzling 59.3 percent in the opening 20 minutes.
Arizona continued to cruise and opened the second half with an 18-6 surge to extend its lead to 63-32. Hill and Radenovic each contributed six points during the run.
The Huskies never threatened the rest of the way as the Wildcats outscored the Huskies 39-28 in the second half.
