(Basketball News) - The Denver Nuggets had their six-game winning streak snapped on Sunday, as they fell to the Boston Celtics, 116-111, Sunday at the Pepsi Center.
Rodney White paced Denver with 23 points. Voshon Lenard ended with 20 points and Carmelo Anthony contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Nuggets. Andre Miller collected 15 points and 10 assists for Denver.
Anthony’s three-point play with 7:41 remaining in the fourth quarter tied the contest at 94-94. The Nuggets had trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half.
The Celtics then countered with an 11-2 spurt, capped by Mike James’ three- pointer, to grab a 105-96 lead with 5:09 left.
Denver battled back and cut the deficit to 113-111 on White’s three-pointer with 28 seconds remaining.
The Nuggets then fouled James, who proceeded to make both free throws for a 115-111 advantage.
The Nuggets are off until Tuesday when they visit the Atlanta Hawks.
