Detroit Pistons Team Report - February 11

(Basketball News) - Following a four-day break, the Pistons came out firing on all cylinders in Thursday night’s 103-81 thrashing of the Los Angeles Lakers at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Tayshaun Prince scored 25 and Rasheed Wallace added 23 points and a season- high 15 rebounds in the winning effort. Chauncey Billups collected 15 points and a season-high 11 assists for the defending-champion Pistons, who rebounded from a 22-point loss at New Jersey on Saturday to win for the sixth time in seven games.

Richard Hamilton added 11 points in the win, and Ben Wallace scored seven with 15 rebounds. The Pistons are currently sitting atop the Central Division, a half-game ahead of Cleveland.

Hamilton is leading the team in scoring (20 ppg), while sitting second in assists per game (4.2). Ben Wallace is tops on the squad with 12 rebounds (2nd-NBA) per contest, while ranking third in the league in blocks per game (2.55).

The Pistons, who for all intents and purposes ended a Lakers dynasty with a 4-1 win in last year’s Finals, have won their last four home games. Detroit improved to 9-2 this season when scoring 100 points or more.

Ben Wallace collected 15 or more rebounds for the 10th time this season. Rasheed Wallace posted his 10th double-double of the season, while Billups picked up his third.

Pistons guard Lindsey Hunter missed his second straight game with the flu. Hunter is listed as day-to-day.

Detroit has a day off before continuing its week against Washington at the Palace on Saturday. The Pistons are in the midst of a stretch of just four games in 17 days. Detroit is 17-7 at home this season.
