(Basketball News) - Richard Hamilton scored 21 points and handed out six assists, as the Detroit Pistons rolled to a 107-88 victory over the Chicago Bulls at the United Center.
Rasheed Wallace contributed 15 points and seven rebounds for the Pistons, who have won two in a row after dropping eight-of-nine. Chauncey Billups collected 14 points and six assists in the win.
The Pistons scored 12 of the first 19 points of the third quarter to take a 63-50 lead. Tayshaun Prince had four points during the run.
Chicago was able to trim the deficit to eight points twice, the last time at 79-71 on a two free throws by Hinrich. Detroit then countered with an 8-0 spurt, capped by Prince’s three-pointer, to make it 87-71 early in the fourth quarter. The Pistons continued to pour it on, extending the margin to as many as 23 points at 107-84 on a foul shot by Darko Milicic in the final minute.
The Pistons have captured eight straight and 16 of the last 17 meetings with the Bulls.
Hamilton has scored more than 20 points in four of his last five games. He is averaging 21.2 points, four rebounds and 4.8 assists in that span.
Detroit is off until Friday when it hosts Central Division rival Atlanta. The Hawks have defeated the Pistons twice at Philips Arena this season, while Detroit beat Atlanta, 91-82, on January 25 at The Palace.
