Hill and Stoudemire named NBA Players of the Week

New York, NY (Basketball News) - Orlando Magic forward Grant Hill and Phoenix Suns forward Amare Stoudemire were named Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, November 15 through Sunday, November 21.

Hill posted averages of 30.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists last week, helping the Magic to a 2-0 mark.

On November 17 versus Utah, he scored a season-high 32 points, grabbed five rebounds and handed out five assists, as the Magic defeated the Jazz. Three days later, he collected 28 points, seven boards and six assists in a victory over the Indiana Pacers.

Stoudemire led the Suns to a 4-0 record last week, as he averaged a league- high 34.5 points per game to go along with 9.3 rebounds per contest.

He had 34 points and 11 boards in a victory over Dallas on November 16 and then poured in a career-high 38 points the next day versus New Orleans. In a triumph over the Lakers on November 19, he contributed 33 points and 14 rebounds. Stoudemire then completed his stellar week on Sunday with a 33- point, seven-board effort in a win over the Clippers.

Other nominees for Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Cleveland’s LeBron James, Denver’s Kenyon Martin, Houston’s Tracy McGrady, Miami’s Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade, Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett, Phoenix’s Shawn Marion and Steve Nash, Portland’s Zach Randolph, Sacramento’s Chris Webber and Washington’s Larry Hughes.
