Krause, who was the Bulls’ GM from 1985 until 2003, had a 16-year career in major-league scouting before heading to the NBA. Chicago won six world championships with Krause at the helm, but he left the team citing health reasons.
"Jerry Krause has a long and rich history in both baseball and basketball," said Mark Newman, Yankees’ senior vice president of baseball operations. "We are extremely happy that he is joining the Yankees and he will be an invaluable part of our talent evaluation team."
Krause, 64, worked in the scouting department for the Cleveland Indians, Oakland A’s, Seattle Mariners, and Chicago White Sox.
"I’m very proud to be a member of one of the greatest organizations in the history of professional sports," Krause said. "My role will encompass the width and breath of scouting from high schools to the major leagues as well as evaluating the talent in our own organization."
