Houston Rockets Team Report - December 21

(Basketball News) - Yao Ming poured in a season-best 40 points and Tracy McGrady delivered 34 along with 12 rebounds to lead Houston to a 114-102 victory over Toronto at the Toyota Center.

Yao made good on 13-of-16 field goal attempts and hit 14-of-18 shots from the foul line as the Rockets posted their sixth triumph in eight games. McGrady finished 12-of-21 from the floor and was just three assists shy of a triple- double.

Toronto trailed by five points, 92-87, with seven minutes to go, but Yao put together a three-point play and Maurice Taylor followed with a layup to lengthen the margin to 10.

Yao scored 12 points in the final four-plus minutes to thwart any comeback hopes.

Houston will return to action on Wedneday when they host the expansion Charlotte Bobcats.
