(Basketball News) - Yao Ming scored 33 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Houston Rockets to a 104-101 overtime win against the Sacramento Kings on Saturday at the Toyota Center.
Charlie Ward’s back-to-back, three-pointers in overtime gave the Rockets the lead for good, as Houston captured its home-opener while playing its fourth game in five nights.
Tracy McGrady added 23 points and 13 rebounds for Houston, which has split its first four games of the season. Houston beat the Kings for only the third time in 17 outings.
Sacramento outboarded the Rockets 54-44.
Yao is averaging 16.3 points and 8.8 rebounds to start the season, while McGrady, who was acquired from Orlando in a blockbuster trade in the offseason, has averaged 23 points, 5.8 rebounds and five assists in his first four games in a Houston uniform.
The Rockets are off until Tuesday when they host the Memphis Grizzlies in the second of a four-game homestand. Last season, the teams split four contests.
