Indiana aims for a win in Houston

03.8.2006

(Basketball News) - The Indiana Pacers will try to get back on track tonight when they open a three-game road trip against the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center.

On Tuesday at Conseco Fieldhouse, the Pacers dropped a 107-92 decision to the hapless New York Knicks. Stephen Jackson and Peja Stojakovic each netted 20 points for Indiana, which suffered its second loss in three games and fell to 12-14 against sub-.500 clubs this season.

The fifth-seeded Pacers, who have lost seven of their last 10 road games, are 12-17 away from Conseco Fieldhouse this season.

Houston, meanwhile, has won three straight and six of its last eight, including Tuesday’s 93-87 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Yao Ming had 30 points and 13 rebounds to lead a Tracy McGrady-less squad.

Yao has scored more than 20 points in a career-high eight straight games, averaging 26.5 points and 14.1 rebounds over that stretch.

Houston has won six of its last eight games and 13 of 17 in its desperate push for the postseason. It is 6-2 in its last eight home games and 12-18 as the host this season.

The Pacers lead the season series 1-0 after posting an 85-74 win on November 20 in Indiana. Ron Artest scored 24 points, as the Pacers defeated Houston at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Indiana has won two of the last three meetings and six of nine versus the Rockets. The Pacers have won two in a row at the Toyota Center.

The last time the Clippers beat the Spurs was on December 1, 2003 at the Staples Center.
