Iverson and Nash named NBA Players of the Week 02.14.2005

Iverson, who leads the league in scoring at 29.7 points-per-game, averaged a league-high 42.7 ppg this past week to go along with eight assists, five rebounds and three steals in games versus the Memphis Grizzlies, Toronto Raptors and Orlando Magic.
The 29-year-old Iverson capped his week in grand style on Saturday, as he torched the Magic for a career-high 60 points, going 24-of-27 from the free throw line. He also had six assists, five steals and four rebounds in that contest, as he joined Wilt Chamberlain as the only Sixers in franchise history to notch 60 or more points in a regular season game.
Nash, meanwhile, averaged 26 points on 50-percent shooting this past week and helped the Suns to a 2-1 record. He also dished out a league-best 14.3 assists and four rebounds against the Sacramento Kings, Seattle SuperSonics and Golden State Warriors.
In Tuesday’s win over the Kings, Nash tallied a season-high 33 points to go along with 17 assists.
Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week included Cleveland’s Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki, Detroit’s Chauncey Billups, Houston’s Yao Ming, Miami’s Shaquille O’Neal, Milwaukee’s Mike James, New Orleans’ Dan Dickau, Orlando’s Steve Francis and Washington’s Gilbert Arenas.
