East Rutherford, NJ (Basketball News) - New York forward Tim Thomas suffered multiple muscle contusions in his lower back Saturday after suffering a flagrant foul in Game 1 of the Knicks loss to New Jersey.
Thomas was helped off the floor following a foul by the Nets’ Jason Collins. Thomas was taken to Beth Israel Hospital for x-rays, which were negative. He will be held overnight for observation and is day-to-day for the remainder of the series.
Thomas had 12 points for the Knicks, who lost 107-83 in the opener of the quarterfinal round series at the Meadowlands. Game 2 is scheduled for Tuesday in New Jersey.
