Lakers continue road trip in Minnesota

12.20.2006

(Basketball News) - The Los Angeles Lakers play the second of a six-game road trip when they visit the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight at the Target Center.

This is the second meeting of the season between the squads. On November 7th, Andrew Bynum scored 20 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to lift the Lakers to a 95-88 victory over Minnesota at the Staples Center.

The Lakers have lost two straight and four of their last five at Minnesota. LA has won two in a row in this series.

Los Angeles has dropped its last two contests and started the road trip with a disappointing result. On Tuesday, Luol Deng scored 23 points as the Chicago Bulls used a big second half to down the Lakers, 94-89, at the United Center.

Coming off games of 53 and 45 points, superstar Kobe Bryant was held to 19 points on 6-of-19 from the floor in the loss to Chicago for the Lakers. Bryant missed all five three-point attempts, as the club managed to make only 3-of-19 from beyond the arc.

Kwame Brown totaled 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Lakers, while Smush Parker finished with 16 points in defeat.

The Lakers are 3-5 on the road this season. They are scheduled to visit New Jersey on Friday, Miami on Christmas Day, Orlando on December 27th and Charlotte on December 29th.

Minnesota tries to halt a two-game losing streak. On Saturday, Michael Redd and Maurice Williams both scored 28 points as the Milwaukee Bucks edged the Timberwolves, 108-104, at the Bradley Center.

Kevin Garnett poured in 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Mark Blount added 16 and 10 boards in the loss to Milwaukee for the Timberwolves, who have dropped two in a row following a four-game winning streak. Ricky Davis scored 15, while Mike James netted 14 and dished out six assists in defeat.

The Timberwolves are 6-3 at home this season. They will host the Bucks on Friday in the final meeting of the season between the clubs.
