Following the game, Jackson stated that referee Bob Delaney was prejudiced against Shaquille O’Neal, who was ejected from the contest after he came down with an elbow on top of Utah’s Andrei Kirilenko with 3:57 remaining in the game.
"Bob Delaney’s known to be very prejudiced against Shaquille. We know that, so we wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t a good call," Jackson said following the loss. "But I’m not going to make a comment on that right now."
O’Neal had also been whistled for a technical earlier in the period for taunting after a dunk.
"We just felt it wasn’t fair-square," Jackson added. "It felt like we were going against eight people instead of five."
The Lakers, who got Kobe Bryant back on the court Wednesday, are currently fourth in the Western Conference, a half-game back of the Dallas Mavericks and 5 1/2 games behind Sacramento in the Pacific Division.
