(Basketball News) - Stanislav Medvedenko scored 20 points and hauled down 10 rebounds to lead the Lakers over the Clippers, 91-89, as the basketball rivals in Los Angeles hooked up on Saturday at the Staples Center.
Gary Payton netted 15 points and dished out a season-high 15 assists for the Lakers, who were once again forced to play without three-fifths of their starting lineup. Center Shaquille O’Neal, forward Karl Malone and guard Kobe Bryant all remained sidelined with injuries, but the Lakers bounced back from a 103-83 loss in Sacramento on Friday.
The Lakers have won eight of the last 10 contests against the Clippers.
O’Neal could return to the Lakers’ lineup for their next game on Monday, which is a home contest against the Phoenix Suns. Malone and Bryant are currently on the injured list.
