Anthony, a strong contender for Rookie of the Year, won the Western Conference award for averaging 28.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists last week. The Nuggets, who are competing for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West, were 2-1 on the week — including a pivotal 110-100 overtime win over Portland on Saturday.
Magloire earned Eastern Conference honors in leading the Hornets to a 2-1 record for the week. He averaged 23.0 points and a conference-high 14.3 rebounds for New Orleans, which is currently sixth in the playoff picture.
Other nominees for Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Atlanta’s Stephen Jackson, Detroit’s Tayshaun Prince, Indiana’s Jermaine O’Neal, Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett, Phoenix’s Amare Stoudemire, San Antonio’s Tim Duncan and Utah’s Andrei Kirilenko.
