(Basketball News) - The Heat had a bucket of cold water tossed on them Wednesday night, as they saw a three-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of the New Orleans Hornets.
Miami dropped a 95-84 decision to the Hornets. Eddie Jones led five double figures scorers for the Heat with 18 points. Jones also tallied eight assists and six rebounds.
Udonis Haslem added 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Lamar Odom tacked on 12 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists. Dwyane Wade and Rafer Alston posted 11 points apiece.
The Heat were badly outrebounded, 58-38, while being outscored, 42-13, at the charity stripe. It didn’t help that they hit just 5-of-24 from three-point range.
Miami fell to 8-25 on the road this season. The Heat have dropped five of their last six road tilts.
Miami (28-37) fell one-half game behind Boston for the eighth and final playoff spot in the East.
The Heat have a day off before hosting the Seattle SuperSonics at AmericanAirlines Arena Friday night.
