Taylor, who was suspended without pay for violating the terms of the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program, will be eligible to return Wednesday against Golden State.
The reduced suspension was based upon an ongoing evaluation by the medical director of the Anti-Drug Program and a determination that Taylor is now in compliance with the program.
"I’m sorry that this entire situation happened," Taylor said in a statement released by the Rockets. "I take responsibility for my actions and recognize that it is my responsibility to make sure that a situation like this doesn’t happen again. I am happy to be back on the court with my teammates."
The NBA, its teams and the NBPA are prohibited from publicly disclosing information regarding the testing or treatment of any player in the program, other than to announce a player’s suspension or dismissal from the league.
In four games this season, Taylor is averaging 9.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest.
He was also suspended for the initial five games of the 2002-03 season for violating the league’s drug policy.
