NBA suspends Peeler two games

05.17.2004

New York, NY (Basketball News) - Sacramento Kings guard Anthony Peeler was suspended two games without pay on Monday for throwing two elbows at Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett in Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals.

Near the end of the third quarter in Sacramento’s 104-87 win, Peeler threw elbows at the All-Star’s stomach and then his head.

Garnett retaliated by elbowing Peeler in the chest during the incident and was fined $7,500 for his actions.

Both players received technical fouls, but only Peeler was ejected.

The decisive Game 7 between the two teams will be played on Wednesday in Minnesota without the services of Peeler, who will also sit out Game 1 of the Western Conference finals if the Kings advance.
