76ers resume homestand vs. Nets

03.4.2007

(Basketball News) - The Philadelphia 76ers will try to stay perfect on their current homestand this evening when they host the New Jersey Nets at the Wachovia Center.

Philadelphia 3-0 so far on a six-game homestand and recorded a 117-112 overtime win versus the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night. Andre Iguodala scored 27 points, pulled down nine rebounds and dished out six assists to keep the Sixers unbeaten on the stand.

Kyle Korver also had 27 points with four steals off the bench for the Sixers, who won their third straight game to match their longest winning streak of the season. Joe Smith chipped in 18 points and 12 boards, while Willie Green finished with 16 points in a winning effort.

The 76ers have won four in a row as the host and are 13-15 at the Wachovia Center this season. They will also welcome the Lakers and SuperSonics to Philly on the homestand.

Philadelphia is seven games off the eighth and final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference, while New Jersey currently occupies that spot.

In injury news, Sixers rookie forward Rodney Carney (torn right rotator cuff/labrum) is doubtful for Sunday’s game against New Jersey.

The Nets had a three-game winning streak come to an end with Saturday’s 96-88 overtime loss to the Boston Celtics at Continental Airlines Arena.

Vince Carter netted 25 points and 10 boards for New Jersey, which is 3 1/2 games behind Toronto for the top spot in the Atlantic Division. Eddie House came off the bench to score 14 points in the loss.

The Nets will now embark on a six-game road trip against the Sixers, Mavericks, Rockets, Spurs, Grizzlies and Hornets. They are 11-16 away from the Meadowlands this season.

On the injury front for the Nets, guard Antoine Wright (elbow) is questionable against Philadelphia.

Sunday’s showdown between Atlantic Division rivals is the third of four meetings this season. Both teams will meet again on March 31 at Continental Airlines Arena.

The 2006-07 series is tied at a game apiece, but Philadelphia has won three of four and four of the last six meetings. New Jersey has lost two in a row and 11 of its last 16 at Philadelphia.
