76ers try to avoid running of the Bulls

11.24.2006

(Basketball News) - A pair of struggling teams meet tonight at the Wachovia Center, as the Philadelphia 76ers welcome the Chicago Bulls to town.

Chicago has lost five straight games and will shoot for its first win on a seven-game road trip (0-5). On Tuesday the Bulls suffered a 113-109 loss against the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center.

Kirk Hinrich led the Bulls with 28 points and eight rebounds. Luol Deng scored 22 points and Ben Gordon added 19 off of the bench, while Ben Wallace scored 11 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. Andres Nocioni chipped in 15 points and pulled down 11 boards.

The Bulls are 1-7 on the road this season and will close out the trip on Saturday against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

Meanwhile, the Sixers have dropped four straight and seven of eight, including Wednesday’s 98-94 loss against the Milwaukee Bucks at the Bradley Center.

Andre Iguodala posted 18 points, a career-high 16 rebounds and 10 assists for his second-career triple-double for the Sixers, who played without stars Allen Iverson and Chris Webber. Iverson has missed the last two games after having tooth surgery and Webber has been out the last three with back problems.

Willie Green has filled in nicely for Iverson and netted a season-high 24 points against the Bucks. Kyle Korver scored 19 points off the bench and rookie Rodney Carney added nine points.

Iverson is probable for tonight’s contest, while Webber is questionable.

Chicago and Philadelphia split four meetings last season, with the Sixers winning two of the last three matchups.

Philly has won seven of the last 11 meetings in the series, while the Bulls have won two of its last three trips to the City of Brotherly Love.
