According to a report in the Rocky Mountain News, Anthony’s deal is expected to be worth $79 million over five years.
Saturday was the first day NBA teams could negotiate with players eligible for extensions, but Anthony can not officially sign the new deal until July 12.
Once he signs the contract, Anthony will be Denver’s property through 2012.
The former Syracuse star averaged 26.5 points last season and was named to the All-NBA third team.
