Davidson, NC (Basketball News) - Brendan Winters poured in a game-high 30 points in leading the Davidson Wildcats to a 71-64 victory over the Furman Paladins in Southern Conference action from Belk Arena.
Winters finished the game 5-of-10 from behind the arc with five boards, as Davidson (16-11, 11-5 SoCon) improved to a perfect 13-0 at home this season.
Maleye Ndoye led Furman (16-11, 8-8) with 13 points on 3-of-4 shooting from long range. Tony Carter and Quan Prowell each tallied 11 points, while Robby Bostain and Eric Webb chipped in 10 points apiece. The loss snapped the Paladins’ four-game winning streak.
Davidson closed out the first half with a 9-2 spurt, taking a 35-18 lead into the break.
In the second stanza, the Wildcats converted 21-of-26 free-throw attempts, as they cruised to the seven-point victory.
With the win, Davidson clinched a share of the SocCon’s South Division title and earned a first-round bye in the league tournament
