St. Louis, MO (Basketball News) - Julian Sensley scored from the lane with 15.2 seconds remaining to lift the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors to a 53-52 win over the Saint Louis Billikens in a non-conference thriller from the Savvis Center.
Sensley led Hawaii (4-0) with a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Matthew Gibson added 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field.
Saint Louis (1-4) was paced by Reggie Bryant’s game-high 19 points, while Izik Ohanon netted 10 and pulled down 16 rebounds.
Hawaii led throughout much of the first half, strengthened by 5-of-10 shooting from three-point range, but the Billikens stayed close with a 27-23 halftime margin.
Saint Louis gained the upper hand in the second half, leading by as many as 11 points, but the Rainbow Warriors responded. Each team held the lead twice in the final minute of play, but Sensley’s late-game leaner proved to be the difference.
Hawaii won despite shooting just 37.5 from the field for the game, although the Rainbow Warriors were aided by an 18-4 advantage in points off turnovers.
