Toronto, ON (Basketball News) - Chris Bosh notched his team-leading 19th double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds as the Toronto Raptors snapped a four-game losing streak with a 109-106 victory over the struggling Los Angeles Clippers at the Air Canada Centre.
Bosh went 8-of-18 from the floor and 10-of-11 from the free throw line for the Raptors, who won for just the third time in their last 10 games.
Rafer Alston had 18 points and eight assists, Donyell Marshall, who went 5- of-8 from three-point distance, finished with 17 points and eight rebounds, and Milt Palacio added 13 points and six assists for Toronto.
Leading Los Angeles, which is mired in a five-game losing streak, was Elton Brand with 26 points and 11 rebounds. It was the 24th double-double of the season for Brand.
LA is just 1-5 on its current nine-game road trip, which continues Tuesday in Orlando.
Bobby Simmons netted 21 points on 10-of-15 shooting, Corey Maggette contributed 17 points and six boards and Shaun Livingston chipped in 10 points and nine assists in the loss.
With Toronto leading, 63-49, after two quarters, Brand scored 11 consecutive points in the midst of a 14-0 run by the Clippers, who erased the Toronto advantage to tie the game 63-63 less than four minutes into the third. After a Simmons’ layup, LA had rallied from a 20-point deficit for its first lead of the game, 65-64.
The Clippers led 75-66 with three minutes remaining in the third quarter as Toronto opened the quarter 0-for-15 from the field and mustered only three free throws in the first nine minutes of the frame, which ended with Los Angeles up, 79-75.
With LA ahead by five points, Bonner had a dunk and an Alston three-pointer tied the game, 85-85, with 8:30 to play.
Another Alston three-pointer gave Toronto a 93-90 lead with 3:54 remaining and after two free throws from LA’s Chris Wilcox, Bosh hit a driving layup and a free throw to give the Raptors a four-point advantage, 96-92.
With Toronto ahead 100-96 with two minutes remaining, Palacio hit a jumper for the Raptors, who outscored the Clippers, 34-27, in the fourth quarter en route to the victory.
The Raptors started the game on a 13-6 run and doubled the effort for a 26-12 advantage with a little more than four minutes left in the first quarter. Toronto finished the first 12 minutes with a 33-22 lead.
The second quarter started with the Clippers scoring eight of the first 10 points to trim the deficit to 35-30 with a little more than 9:30 remaining. But the Raptors answered with a 19-4 burst during the course of almost five minutes to seize a 54-34 advantage with 4:54 left in the quarter. Toronto ultimately led, 63-49, at halftime.
