NBA Game Summary - Milwaukee at Detroit

01.25.2006

Auburn Hills, MI (Basketball News) - Chauncey Billups buried two big shots in overtime to lead the Detroit Pistons to their ninth straight win, 106-102, over the Milwaukee Bucks at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Billups had 11 of his 23 points in OT and dished out 15 assists for the 35-5 Pistons, who have won four in a row versus the Bucks. Richard Hamilton poured in 35 points and Rasheed Wallace added 20 in the victory.

"The way they were playing the pick-and-roll, it left me with open opportunities," Billups said of the OT. "We just running pick-and-rolls, I was getting some looks and so was ’Sheed. We were rotating in and the swing pass was open, so we were just patient and staying patient."

Michael Redd carried the Bucks and tied a career high with 41 points. Andrew Bogut and Bobby Simmons both had 14 points in the loss, Milwaukee’s second in a row. The Bucks suffered their fifth consecutive setback at Detroit.

Hamilton converted a three-point play to give Detroit a 92-85 lead with 1:28 remaining in regulation. Redd, however, turned it on and eventually tied the game at 92 apiece.

Redd hit a three-pointer to make it 92-88 before knocking down consecutive jump shots for a 92-92 score. His last bucket hit cotton with 14.2 seconds on the clock.

Wallace had one last chance for the win, but his three-pointer rimmed out as time expired in regulation.

Wallace later made the three-pointer he wanted, but this time it pulled Detroit within 98-97 with less than two minutes to go in overtime. Billups then put the Pistons ahead, 99-98, with a big jumper from the left wing.

Billups put the game away with a three-pointer, giving the Pistons a 102-98 lead with 29 seconds left. Milwaukee never threatened after that.

"It was a great effort. We kept battling and wanted to make it a fourth quarter game," Bucks head coach Terry Stotts said. "We made a lot of good plays and put ourselves in a position to win the game, but you’ve got to give them (the Pistons) credit, they made a lot of big shots. Rip Hamilton made a lot of big shots. Chauncey Billups made a lot of big shots."

Milwaukee led 27-24 after the first quarter, but the Pistons battled back and carried a 50-44 lead into halftime.

The Pistons are 18-2 at home this season...Detroit became the sixth team in NBA history to record a 35-5 mark after 40 games...It was just the second loss in 19 games for the Bucks when they score 100 points or more...The Pistons are 18-2 against the Eastern Conference.
