Chicago, IL (Basketball News) - Dan Dickau and Jamaal Magloire both scored 17 points to lead New Orleans to a 94-90 win over Chicago at the United Center.
P.J. Brown added 14 points and 11 rebounds while Speedy Claxton also contributed 14 points for the Hornets, who put an end to their two-game losing streak and won for only the fourth time in 32 road contests this season.
"It’s the first time in a long time that something happened positive like this. It’s the most balanced offense we’ve shown," said New Orleans head coach Byron Scott."
Kirk Hinrich poured in a game-high 27 points and Ben Gordon ended with 14 for the slumping Bulls, who have dropped four straight games.
Trailing by one after three quarters, New Orleans opened the final period with a 12-6 run to claim an 80-75 lead. However, Chicago battled back and reeled off eight straight points, culminated by Hinrich’s three-pointer to grab an 83-80 lead with around four minutes remaining.
The Hornets quickly countered with four straight points to take a one-point edge before the teams traded baskets with just under two minutes left.
Gordon then missed a three-point try with 1 1/2 minutes remaining, but Brown failed to extend the lead at the other end. After Hinrich turned the ball over on the Bulls’ next possession, Bostjan Nachbar was fouled and made both shots to extend the lead to 88-85.
Brown then sealed the win with a basket in the waning seconds.
The Hornets were behind 30-24 after one quarter, but rallied in the second as they began the period on a 10-2 surge to claim a two-point lead. The rest of the half stayed tight, but New Orleans closed out the frame with the final six points to take a 52-46 lead into the locker room.
Chicago regained the lead in the third quarter and held a slim 69-68 edge after 36 minutes.
