Bulls, Sixers swap rights to draft choices

06.28.2006

New York, NY (Basketball News) - Chicago Bulls general manager John Paxson swung another draft-night trade, getting the rights to Swiss star Thabo Sefolosha from the Philadelphia 76ers for the rights to Memphis swingman Rodney Carney, a 2007 second round draft pick and cash considerations.

The Bulls were busy earlier in the night, gaining the rights to LSU forward Tyrus Thomas and the contract of forward Viktor Khryapa from the Portland Trail Blazers for the rights to Texas forward LaMarcus Aldridge and a future second round draft choice.

Philadelphia selected Sefolosha with the 13th pick and traded his rights to Chicago, which drafted Carney with 16th selection.

The 6-foot-6, 213-pound Sefolosha is a big and athletic forward who has the ball skills to play the two-guard and square up against the taller guards at the NBA level.

The Sixers get an athletic forward in Carney, who has a tremendous wingspan and an uncanny ability to attack the rim. With his height and athleticism, Carney should be able to play both forward spots.
