Celtics acquire Gary Payton in deal with LA

Boston, MA (Basketball News) - The Boston Celtics have scheduled a news conference for Friday afternoon at which time the club is expected to announce that it has acquired guard Gary Payton in a trade with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Celtics also received forward Rick Fox, a future first-round pick, and cash from the Lakers. In return, Boston sent guards Chucky Atkins and Marcus Banks and forward/center Chris Mihm and a future second-round pick to LA.
