Mavs sign Willis for rest of season

04.12.2007

Dallas, TX (Basketball News) - The Dallas Mavericks on Thursday signed 44-year-old center Kevin Willis for the remainder of the season.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

A 20-year veteran, Willis had not played in an NBA game since the end of the 2004-05 season with the Atlanta Hawks before Dallas signed him to a 10-day contract on April 2. Willis has seen action in two games.

The seven-footer is the oldest Maverick in franchise history and the second oldest player in NBA history.

Originally drafted out of Michigan State by the Hawks in 1984, Willis leads all active players in games played (1,421 regular season games). He holds career averages of 12.2 points on 48.7 percent shooting and 8.4 rebounds in 27 minutes per game.
