Memphis enduring a long season

12.18.2006

(Basketball News) - The Memphis Grizzlies are league-worst 5-19 and are locked in the cellar of the Northwest Division, 13 1/2 games behind the first place San Antonio Spurs.

The Grizzlies attempt to halt a six-game losing streak on Monday when they welcome the struggling Seattle SuperSonics to the FedExForum. Memphis lost seven straight earlier this season from November 4-18.

Seattle has won six of its last seven at Memphis. The SuperSonics have won seven of the last 10 contests in the season-series.

On Saturday, All-Star Dwyane Wade came back from a two-game absence in a huge way, pouring in a season-high 41 points to lead the Miami Heat to a 98-90 win over the Grizzlies at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Mike Miller and Hakim Warrick both finished with 20 points for Memphis, which has dropped six in a row and nine of its last 10 games overall. All-Star Pau Gasol is back for Memphis. In two games, Gasol is averaging 7.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in 17 minutes of action per game.

The Grizzlies are 3-7 at home this season. They will visit the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday and the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets on Friday.

Miller, who is third on the team in scoring (14.0 ppg), has scored double- digits in three straight games and is averaging 17 points and 6.7 rebounds in that span.

The Grizzlies, who are 1-3 when they score more than 100 points this season, are 0-6 when their opponent reaches the century mark.
