Miami Heat Team Report - January 24

=== Miami Heat Team Report - January 24 ===

(Basketball News) - The Miami Heat try to stay on the winning track this evening when they head to New York to face the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

Miami also comes into tonight’s tilt on a rare winning note after Eddie Jones scored 18 points in the Heat’s relatively easy 85-64 win over New Jersey at AmericanAirlines Arena. Miami, which posted its most lopsided win of the season, had seven players hit double-digits in scoring.

Lamar Odom added 12 points and tied a career-high with 18 rebounds for Miami, which snapped a two-game losing streak. Rafer Alston scored 13 in the wire-to- wire win for the Heat, who connected on 44-percent of their shots in the contest.

Miami led by six after three quarters, but Odom’s three-point play early in the fourth extended the cushion to 10 and Udonis Haslem’s two free throws with 4:34 remaining capped a 17-6 run to begin the period, making it 75-58.

The Nets never threatened again.

Miami has dropped six of its last seven away from home and is just 5-19 on the road this season.

New York has defeated the Heat twice already this season and has won three of four and five of the last seven meetings. Miami has also lost two straight at MSG and has dropped five of its last seven in New York.

The Knicks lead the all-time series 45-22, including a 27-7 mark at the Garden.
